What makes a bombshell tick? Her beauty stash of course along with regular manicures! Nadine Toren , traffic anchor for CBS-5 Morning News and daily blog columnist for Arizona Foothills, let us peek inside her beauty bag to find out her faves and must-haves. Here’s the scoop!
So, what’s in your cosmetic bag?
Too much! To start, I have a mini makeup bag that goes with me everywhere, no matter what. Inside is my absolute must-have: that black crème eye-liner and applicator brush from MAC. It’s my #1 product because I love how it frames my eyes and has great “pop!” That mini-bag is also home to my array of drugstore chap sticks, lipsticks and glosses. They’re all in light pink and raspberry tones – no red for me!
THEN, there is my “big” makeup cosmetic bag that comes with me to work. This one’s packed. I don’t wear liquid foundation, but I do swear by MAC’s concealer, Painterly. It’s a great base before eyeshadow and liner because it prevents smudging. Since MAC is known for good TV makeup, I also wear the brand’s powder, bronzer and eyeshadow. My makeup bag also consists of a teasing comb for big TV hair, hand lotion, applicator brushes and emergency Advil.
I’m not that girl who spends hours on makeup; in fact, while it may not look perfect, I can easily “put my face on” in 15 minutes.
What are you longing to add to your cosmetic bag?
Tough question! The short answer would be anything. I like trying new things and my friend at Barney’s New York at Scottsdale Fashion Square swears by Rosebud Salve lip balm and By Terry Foundation. Perhaps I’ll give both a try sometime soon. And I would love to add more lash pizazz to my life. I’m totally intrigued by eyelash extensions!
What is your favorite place to buy goodies for your cosmetic bag?
My sister has been in the makeup biz for many years. When I started in TV, she suggested I venture to Nordstrom for a makeover. That’s because the counter girls and guys are often really helpful in explaining what to wear and how to wear it. For my MAC stuff, I like going to Nordies. However, I believe in makeup on a budget, so I regularly buy lip and eye colors at places like Target.
What is your favorite spa splurge?
My friend once told me her TV agent wouldn’t sign anyone with yucky nails, so I make bi-monthly manicures and pedicures a top priority. I never get color on my fingernails, though, because chipping is a big pet peeve of mine. I am obsessed with the clear Shellac tone. It really does dry instantly and last a long time. Since I sport heels pretty much every day of my life, I try to treat my toes to regular TLC. I prefer French Shellac pedicures.
I’ve also had the opportunity to experience some of Phoenix and Scottsdale’s top spas — Joya Spa at the Montelucia Resort, The Spa at the Four Seasons Resort Scottsdale, The Spa at the Sanctuary on Camelback Mountain and Willow Stream at the Fairmont Princess. While money does not grow on trees in my backyard, there’s nothing like a day full of pampering. I’m a big fan of the eucalyptus steam room. Oh, and I also love Old Town’s V Spot Salon — it’s totally cool!
