Dry, brittle hair is the bane of every Spa Girl’s existence. Living in Arizona’s harsh, dry desert climate has us in a constant stay of “hairapy,” which, if you didn’t know, is the act of rehabbing one’s hair. Between hot oil treatments, egg whites and most recently beer (don’t judge), my kitchen needs a break. Thankfully, I stumbled upon the remarkable WEN by Chaz Dean Winter Vanilla Mint Cleansing Conditioner.
New from the masterminds of gentle haircare, WEN by Chaz Dean Winter Vanilla Mint Cleansing Conditioner is a cleanser and conditioner in one easy-to-use product. WEN Cleansing Conditioner is a 5-in-1 formula. This product basically cleans out the five different bottles you have sitting in your shower: shampoo, conditioner, deep conditioner, de-tangler and leave-in conditioner.
It cleanses hair thoroughly without all of the harsh ingredients that can be found in your shampoo. WEN Cleansing Conditioner is designed so it won’t strip your hair and scalp of its natural oils. Your hair is left shiny, moisturized, manageable and with better color retention.
I am so used to the fun bubbles that my every day shampoo provides that WEN Cleansing Conditioner’s concept of “no lather” really blew my mind. It was a tricky little mental game the first time I used the product but I was extremely pleased with the results.
The first thing I noticed was the scent. Winter vanilla mint smells like a cross between sugar cookies and mint juleps. It sounds like a weird combination, but I assure you it smelt like my childhood and the Kentucky Derby all in one fantastic product.
When using a Cleansing Conditioner, you have to use a lot more product then you’re used to. The directions recommend 16 to 30 pumps. I have fairly thin hair that falls to the middle of my back, so I used 20 pumps and found that was enough. You have to play with the product to figure out how many pumps work for you.
My favorite part was massaging the product into my scalp and hair. Not only did the steam of the shower infuse the entire bathroom with the delightful scent, but also it offered a slight cooling sensation on my scalp. The product feels rich, thick and creamy in your hair and like you’re doing your hair a favor.
Per the directions, I used a wide tooth comb through my hair and let the product sit for about 5 minutes. After rinsing thoroughly I dried and styled my hair as usual but found my hair was softer, silkier and was much more shiny than normal. Plus, it smelled remarkable all day. Whenever the wind blew, I got a whiff of winter vanilla mint!
I would recommend this product to every Spa Girl. Your hair will thank you.
WEN Cleansing Conditioner Tips:
- Make sure you rinse your hair a few times before using the product. This allows all of your styling products from the previous day to break up so the WEN Cleansing Conditioner works better.
- It’s important that you leave the product on at least 3 minutes. The longer the product sits, the better the results.
- Rinse the WEN Cleansing Conditioner thoroughly. Nothing is worse than product buildup that results in greasy hair.
