When we first got wind of the $10K Spa Day at The Lamar Everyday Spa, our initial reaction was what cough syrup is the spa owner sipping and how do we get our hands on it? But on closer inspection of the pricey proposition, we reconsidered our position. In fact, we think the owner might be a genius. The $10,000 VIP package is for a group of 25 people and includes a private chef, lunch or dinner, unlimited spa and salon services for 5 hours, with one therapist for each guest and a spa concierge orchestrating the day. Where’s the bargain? Well, when you break it down per person, that’s $400 per pretty head. If you play your cards right, you can fit in at least five spa treatments, which average $90 per hour. Plus you get fed. Spa guests also have the run of the 14,000-square-foot spa, which boasts a steam room, sauna, swimming pool, whirlpool, changing cabanas with robes and lockers, and a tropical fruit and beverage bar. The price is $10,000 Monday through Thursday and slides up to $15,000 on the weekends. The owner definitely scores points in the creativity department and if you’ve got two dozen friends or co-workers looking for a party, you’ve found it here. More on Lamar. In other local spa news, we awoke this morning to the sad notice that our friends at Massage & Esthetics Studio in Scottsdale have closed their doors as of Saturday, August 9. They’ve been an important part of the SpaGirls family from our beginnings and we will miss them dearly. If you have an unredeemed gift card for Massage & Esthetics, you can use it at Bella Tu Day Spa for a discounted rate. Just a reminder to make time in your week to support your neighborhood spas and salons so they will still be open for business when you need them!
