After many unfortunate and painful wax expeditions, I finally felt like I had perfected the art of the do-it-yourself wax job.
Unfortunately, I hadn’t yet found a product that worked with my on-the-go lifestyle.
The traditional at-home wax kits are definitely not TSA-friendly and even if you check your cosmetic bag, finding a microwave to heat up your bikini wax isn’t the easiest task (plus, it’s a little embarrassing). Bliss made it simple: take the covered wax strip and rub it between your hands, as if you were trying to start a fire, for 30 seconds. Once you feel a little heat, the wax is ready to take action. Pull the strips apart, place the strip wax side down on the desired area and go for it! It’s that painless (well, I guess not literally).
While these poetic waxing strips are my new key to staying hair free, I would like to offer up a few insider tips that will save you time and product.
1. Cut away. Cutting the strips is okay; actually, I recommend it. The strips come in 3-by-5-inch sheets, which typically is overkill for certain areas. Plus, you’ll get more waxes out of one box.
2. Beat the heat. While the wax strips are perfect for the on-the-go lifestyle, they aren’t so hot after sitting in the car during the summer heat.
3. Less is more. One or two strips per area is sufficient unless you have taken on the challenge of your man’s back hair (which I would recommend saving for the professionals).
