Why, why do I do this? Every other year or so I decide I want bangs and then, only then, do I remember that the sexy sweep of fringe across my forehead that I so covet does not mix with the stubborn cowlick that brings my hairline to its naturally geeky halt. So here I am again with a very nice set of bangs … that I absolutely hate. They won’t tuck behind ear. I can’t make them disappear into a ponytail. And I don’t know how to style them thanks to my cantankerous cowlick. Which leads me to my new obsession. I’ve had the adorable H2pro 300 Special-Edition Pink Ceramic Tourmaline Styling Iron sitting pretty on my vanity for months. I like to look at it. It’s cute. And completely pink. But this ledge on my forehead has been crying out for attention so it was only recently that I actually fired it up and put it to the test. Beyond the fact that it’s a fun color, I upgraded to this model because the design allows for damp-to-dry styling, it heats up quickly and has a variable temperature setting of between 140 and 450 degrees. The iron also has nifty floating ceramic plates that allow for a smoother finish and features H2pro’s trio of Nano technologies — Nano Titanium, Nano Titanium Oxide and Nano Silver — that work to keep hair healthier, shinier, less-damaged and frizz-free. I can use it straighten my bangs to a cute (although not Heidi Klum sexy) side sweep and the rest of my coarse hair into sleek submission. Or, because the curved raised edges of the plates go all the way to the edge of the iron, I can easily create flipped ends and soft curls. Other snazzy features include a swivel pink power cord that doesn’t tangle and an LED-lighted On/Off switch so you can easily see that the power’s been turned off before you leave the house (one of my personal OCD-like fears). Suggested retail price is $180 but you can snag a good deal at grandperfumes.com where the special-edition iron is currently $109. Get more info on the H2pro 300 flat iron at h2probeautylife.com. And take it from me, have a good long talk with your hair stylist before going for those bangs. Urgh, I should’ve tried those Jessica Simpson hairdo clip-in bangs (at hairuwear.com)! Next time!
