With more than 20,000 products in the $6 billion skincare biz, how do you sift through all the bottles and jars to find ones right for you? Well, if you’re like me, you try and try again (and again). A new website has launched that attempts to make the process a little less daunting. Face Parlour (www.faceparlour.com) was founded by Lauren Fornes, an aesthetician who came up with the site concept while planning to open a spa. Months of product research proved no line was all things to all people. Meanwhile curious friends and family continued to call on her for personalized skin care regimes. And even though she suffered with her own battle with adult acne, Lauren realized she could help a lot more people by simply sharing her research — and Face Parlour was born. She and her team of medical advisors analyze products based on evaluation criteria like efficacy, manufacturer claims, innovation, safety, design and social responsibility. And although most of the products rated so far fall on the upscale end of the price rainbow, they don’t sell the products that they rate. Kudos to Lauren for using her knowledge for such a good cause. Now can you do something about this zit on my cheek?
