This week I’m hiding out from the heat and working beachside in sunny San Diego. Besides the balmy weather and cute boutiques, I can’t get enough of the humidity. Yes, it’s true even though it makes everything a little sticky and turns my hair into a frizzy mess after a few hours, my super dry skin has been surprisingly low-maintenance. Back home I have a small army of moisturizing products I constantly slather on in multiple layers just to keep moderately smooth. The only products that get my skin close to this humidity-infused state are Lather’s new Almond Creme Body Buff and Almond, Milk and Honey Body Butter. Take it from a girl who has battled a lifetime of dryness woes, this stuff is good. So good I packed both in my suitcase but desperately trying not to use them until I get back to the desert. The Body Buff has a lotion-like consistency with gritty walnut shell powder whipped in. I use it in the shower about twice a week before I apply self-tanner or if I’m in dire need of extra hydration. I like it because it doesn’t rub right in or dissolve quickly like many sugar scrubs I’ve used. Instead it blasts away flaky skin and self-tanner remnants leaving my arms and legs with a light, protective moisture layer even after I towel dry. As for the Body Butter, I use this almost every day when my skin is still damp from the shower. It’s thick, creamy and a little goes a long way. It melts almost like butter when applied to skin and deeply heals without leaving behind a greasy layer. The balm’s honey-rich formula keeps me soft all day and the best part is I only have to apply one layer. It doubles as night time eye cream or I also put a tiny bit on my eyelids as a base for powder and lose shadow. Both the buff and balm are paraben-free, packed with nutrients and essential oils and are a must have for anyone with parched-prone skin.
Purchase together as an Almond Glow Set for $35 ($5 less than if you buy separately) at the Kierland Commons Lather store in Scottsdale or shop online at www.lather.com.
(P.S. This blog brought to you by Carolyn, a certifiable spa girl if we ever met one. However, she is not a certified surfer girl and ended up in the ER after a tussle with her board. We’re happy to report that while she’s a little banged up, she’s relatively unscathed. We think the fact that she was slathered up from head to toe in creams and potions helped save her from a much worse fate!)
