I have a confession — despite being a “beautyaholic,” I almost never wear foundation. I hate layers of products on my face, meaning I sometimes go au naturel. But, Auto Pilot Pre-Foundation Primer from Napoleon Perdis changed my rocky relationship with foundation.
After cleansing, I applied the lightweight lotion onto my face before applying makeup. My foundation went on smoothly and my skin actually appeared silky. While foundation can sometimes look caked or obvious, the result after using the primer was completely natural.
I actually looked like I had great skin, and my makeup was still intact near the end of the day. For light coverage, I also tried mixing the primer with foundation — not a bad look, but definitely provides a very sheer effect.
The only other thing I would like to see this product do is control oil. I may have a bit of a problem — okay, a big problem — with getting shiny throughout the day (we’re talking oil blotting sheets at least three times a day).
Thankfully, Napoleon Perdis also makes an Auto Pilot Pore Minimizer & Mattifier, which promises to make your skin smooth and shine-free. And fragrance-phobic girls beware: The Auto Pilot primer does have a light perfume aroma, so if you’re looking for something fragrance-free, this is not the product for you.
Bottom line, if your skin is on the dry side, you should definitely check this out. Fortified with chamomile, yarrow extract and vitamin E, this silky primer definitely delivers in the all-day hydration department.
