I find that people’s appetites for Pilates is a lot like yoga: They either love it or would rather have their finger slammed in a door than do it. Because I’ve tried Pilates all of two times in my fitness career, I’m somewhere in between. If you’re like me, head down to Pilates by Fitness Solutions in Phoenix this weekend and give it a whirl for free! In celebration of their new location in central Phoenix’s trendy Melrose neighborhood, they’re opening their doors for a weekend open house that includes Pilates demos and abbreviated classes at no charge. The studio, founded by instructor Lauren Tomasulo, will be open this weekend to anyone who is interested in learning about this time-tested fitness practice and how it can improve strength, flexibility and balance. Tomasulo teaches Pilates in the classical style developed by its namesake Joseph Pilates and welcomes all shapes, sizes and fitness levels to experience a class. The open house starts on Friday, Sept. 7 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and continues on Saturday, Sept. 8 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Coincidentally, the studio is located along Artlink’s First Fridays Art Walk route, and is a just a short jaunt from this Friday’s shuttle route. For location and directions, visit our Pilates by Fitness Solutions listing and if you wind up on the “Love it!” side, mention Arizona SpaGirls to get $5 off your first class.
