I’ve been struggling for some time now to find my signature scent. As I experimented with body sprays, perfumes and combinations of both, it seemed all my friends had found their perfect fragrance right off the bat. No matter what new fragrance I came across, I still couldn’t find one that was perfect for me.
I have always been a fan of clean scents. The crisp smell of laundry, fresh cut grass, new cars and the sweet scent of peonies and lavender all top the charts for smells that grab my attention. However, no fragrances claiming any traces of those scents could captivate me as much as the pure scents — until now that is.
One day a small pink bottle crossed my path and, having the insane obsession with pink that I do, I decided to give it a shot. It’s the new limited-edition eau de parfum from CLEAN called Summer Escape. Delicately combining mandarin orange, summer peony, orange flower, driftwood and coconut water, this is the scent my senses have been craving. Imagine walking on the beach on a slightly breezy, sunny day with the subtle scent of orchards wafting past your nose. Now bottle it up in a pretty pink package and you have my new favorite scent! It’s subtle enough to wear with jeans and a T-shirt for a day of errands, but can also be worn with that little black (or pink in my case) dress for cocktails.
CLEAN also recently launched a second scent called Cotton T-Shirt. While it may not claim the spot of my signature scent, it’s definitely not one I would turn my nose up at. While both were released at the same time and each have uniquely fresh, crisp aroma, the second, packaged in a frosted blue bottle, is on the opposite spectrum of the scent scale. Reminiscent of its namesake — a freshly laundered cotton tee — this bold scent combines bergomot, cotton flower, rosewood and sheer amber, giving a much stronger aroma as it escapes the bottle. But don’t let that scare you off! It quickly blends with your body to create an easy-to-wear aroma that is quite versatile in its wardrobe pairing as well.
Both have made their way out with me for various occasions, as well as some other stock fragrances in my cabinets, but I seem to go back to Summer Escape time and time again quickly positioning itself as my number 1 choice. The only problem now is for me to stock up on enough bottles to keep it around long after the limited-edition holds true and it’s no longer available. Although, no word has come from the manufacturer of an impending departure date so I’ll keep my fingers crossed that the perfume quickly drops its limited edition status.
