I just returned home from a 10-day odyssey in Fort Collins, Colorado with the Spa Boy’s family. It was cold. It was loud (14 people). And except for a pleasant escape with my sister-in-law to a yoga class, it was often chaotic. But overall, it was a treat to get away and witness a Christmas day beckoned in by a blanket of snow. If you’re ever up that way, dress warmly and be sure to make time for a tour of the New Belgium Brewery. The nation’s third largest microbrewery and home of Fat Tire beer, the brewery is an impressive, employee-owned operation that uses wind power to generate electricity. Plus, the complimentary post-tour beer flight hit the spot after several sleepless nights on a lumpy futon with a sick Spa Boy. To keep myself out of trouble, I took that slew of magazines (see previous post) and a bevy of beauty samples to test drive. The one skin saver that went everywhere with me, from the -12 degree slopes of the Loveland ski area to a ride down the twisty employee slide at the brewery, was Hint of Honey Lip Treatment from 29 Cosmetics ($23). This silky, honey-laced tube never left my side. The combo of beeswax, honey and anti-aging grape seed extract did double time to keep my smackers moist and protected while the pretty shimmer added a touch of glamour that no waxy lip balm could ever deliver. And I think it even helped me to bite my tongue (or my lips in this case) a time or two when things got wacky. For more about the grape seed-infused line of 29 Cosmetics, visit www.29cosmetics.com.
