Speaking of natural beauty products with purpose, meet Wembe. Now here’s a soap with soul. Wembe Amazonian Soul soaps were created in the spirit of using the purest, responsibly sourced ingredients that respect the earth while honoring the body.
Wembe is an eco-friendly cosmetic line made from organic, locally grown plants found in the Amazon rain forest. The handcrafted soaps are void of silicone, petroleum products, parabens, sulfates, synthetic fragrances and dyes. Soaps are cruelty free, and nearly all formulations are vegan.
We got the chance to test out a few bars of Wembe and can attest – they’re super delicious. I tried the Mango Cleansing Blend – a nourishing concoction of mango butter, cocoa butter, lemon and essential vegetable oils. Packaged as a chunky square wrapped in brown paper, opening the bar is like unwrapping a tiny gift. The gentle lather not only cleanses but also has mango fibers that give it extra exfoliating power to lift pore-clogging dead skin cells. The aroma is subtle and fresh – not overwhelming. The soap leaves skin squeaky clean and without the slimy residue of some cleansing gels. Like all their soaps, the Mango Cleansing Blend bar is safe for both face and body.
Not feeling the mango? Well then, how about Chocolate, White Rose, Passion Fruit, Dolce de Leche or Yerba Mate to tempt your palate? If you can’t decide, check out the themed sets. The Indulgence Set for example comes with Coconut Exfoliating Blend, Black Clay Exfoliating Blend and Avocado Cleansing Blend bars (hello, can say perfect gift for the holidays?)
At first glance, these chunky little soaps may not be much to look at. Heck, a few look like a kitchen experiment gone wrong. But a whole lot of love comes packed in each and every block. And that’s something to suds up for.
Individual Wembe soap squares start in the $8 range and sets start at $18. Get ’em at wembe.com.
