For the past week, I have been adding the new L’Oreal Paris True Match Roller foundation to my morning makeup routine and I have to say I was a bit hesitant at first. While I love eye makeup (the bolder the shadow, the better as far as I am concerned!), I have never been one to wear much on my face. I mean, I was the girl that opted out of full coverage foundation and the ever-popular airbrush makeup for my wedding day and went with a simple tinted moisturizer. I have always thought, and heard from others, that my complexion is pretty even and my skin is relatively clear. So, aside from a bit of bronzer on my cheeks and a dab or two of concealer under my eyes, on occasion, my face sees little coverage.
The first day of wearing the foundation took some getting used to. While it’s definitely not a heavy foundation, I still wasn’t used to anything on my face and admittedly felt a bit made-up for a day at the office. But, by mid-morning I had completely forgotten it was even on at all. I gave my face a once over later that afternoon and despite the 100+ degrees we were seeing that day, the foundation was still intact and covering well. Overall, I liked the soft look it gave my skin and it felt clean.
Being a novice to foundation color matching, I wound up picking a color that was just slightly lighter than what I probably should have been wearing. Luckily, the True Match makeup blends so well with your natural skin tone that it didn’t make that much of a difference. I added a little bronzer to my cheeks, like I usually do anyway, and voila, perfection!
The second day, I decided to see how much it actually made to my complexion. I applied the makeup to one side of my face and left the other side natural to make a side-by-side comparison — this is where I was quickly sold on the product. My face looked softer, smoother and had a nice all-over glow. It really looked flawless in comparison. I quickly covered the other side and dashed off to work where it, once again, lasted all day without any touch-ups needed.
So now, after a week of trying out the L’Oreal Roller makeup, I admit it — I am hooked! Not only does it really soften my entire look and make my eye shadow pop even more, it’s fun to use. The roller feels like a little mini facial massage when you are applying it and everything is kept in a nice neat package, no need for external brushes or applicators. If I want to head out for happy hour after work and need a little touch up here or there , it’s as easy as tossing the credit card sized compact in my purse and heading out the door.
