For years I have had sculpted acrylic nails adorning my fingers. After hearing about the new Shellac polish, I decided it was time take off the fakes and go with a less damaging look — but one glance at my real nails and I knew I needed some help. Not only were they super short and rigid, but they were also so brittle and thin that they hurt. I decided they needed a little TLC prior to polish and tried the GoNails Natural Nail Growth Treatment.
The product claims to lengthen and strengthen your nails as well as soften cuticles. GoNails is a white gel that comes in a pump bottle, much like an under-eye cream. Per the instructions I pumped a miniscule amount on each finger tip and rubbed it into my nails and cuticles. The bottle encourages one use per day but the website says to use it up two times per day for maximum results. I opted for twice daily.
The gel has a familiar citrus scent, not quite as delicious as say a lemon tart, but also not as off-putting as those lemon-scented cleaning products. The light formula goes on easily and doesn’t leave any residue or greasy feeling so no need to let your fingers dry out after applying.
After 2 weeks of testing GoNails, my nails were somewhat stronger, but they had definitely grown. In fact, I started noticing growth just a few days after using the product and the results continued to progress from there. My cuticles have also taken a turn for the better. After constant nourishment these past two weeks, you would never know, other than the lack of polish, that I hadn’t been in to see a nail technician in more than a month. Overall, if you want some added length in a relatively short amount of time, this product is great, I just wouldn’t count on getting nails of steel anytime soon.
