Born and raised in the Valley of the Sun, I’m no stranger to slapping on loads of aloe vera gel to cool off an unfortunate sunburn or bad tan line. I’ve probably peeled more times than an iguana! After countless overexposed encounters and a few sun-kissed spots later, I’ve learned my lesson. I now realize the importance of keeping your skin protected from those skin damaging UVA/UVB rays. Besides, who wants to end up resembling an old piece of leather? After hearing the trusted DDF (Doctor’s Dermatologic Formula) line came out with a new double-duty Correct and Protect UV Moisturizer with SPF 15, I was game to give it a whirl. The patented formula claims to capture the natural radiance of even-toned, more youthful skin while helping to prevent future discoloration. This 3-in-1 moisturizer, sunblock and corrective treatment contains a potent Micro-Radiance Complex that aims to diminish the appearance of skin discoloration for a translucent, healthy glow. The formulation also contains powerful antioxidants that coupled with broad-spectrum UVA/UVB protection, work together to protect the skin from future UV-induced damage. It’s those pesky UV rays that we want to stay protected from because they’re directly associated with aging our skin. UV rays are tricky because even if you aren’t lying in the sun, your skin can still be damaged by indoor lighting without broad-spectrum protection. The product comes in a pump bottle, which controls the amount of product you dispense — a nice added feature because wasting a drop of product that sells for $58 a bottle is a no-no. The lotion glides easily onto the skin. I put this on under my makeup in the morning and in one step, delivers on its promise for all-day moisture and protection (a bonus feature for busy gals on-the-go). I was a little concerned when I noticed the moisturizer wasn’t oil free. My combination skin is famous for breaking out from greasy moisturizers and pore-clogging sunblocks. Surprisingly, I didn’t have much of a problem with this product. By midday, my t-zone didn’t resemble an oil slick and breakouts were kept to a minimum. Plus, the formula and scent is light so it shouldn’t disrupt the most sensitive of skin. It actually gave me the right amount of moisture (and glow) I was looking for. After two weeks of using DDF Correct and Protect, I didn’t see immediate fading of brown spots or hyperpigmentation; however, my skin felt supple and appeared more radiant. I plan to continue using the product and keep my eyes peeled for more results and my skin protected in the meantime. We think her natural glow is in part due to her handsome hubbie returning from his tour in Iraq any day now. Glow on girl!)
