Introducing plant collagen serums from Adonia Organic
Here’s the thing about collagen: Some sources of topical collagen are just gross. I won’t go into details but you know what I mean … pigs, cows and other really strange things. We all know by now that collagen is the building block of skin and as we age, our natural collagen production slows down. Maintaining plump, youthful skin relies on collagen, which you can supplement through drinks and topical serums. But again, slapping animal-derived potions on your skin isn’t super appealing to most of us.
Enter Arizona-based, Adonia Organics. Capturing the magic of plant collagen in a bottle, Adonia’s line of serums promise to boost your collagen production and improve skin texture and vitality—naturally and without any of the yucky stuff.
Tell me more about these magic serums…
Let’s start with the ingredients list. Cruelty free and paraben free, all of Adonia’s serums contain a base of plant glycerin, bamboo, algae protein, artichoke protein, alma fruit extract and tremella mushroom. The serums also include botanicals that soothe and nourish skin like organic aloe vera, cucumber and nettle leaf. Add to that a dose of Vitamin E and other plant botanicals and you have yourself a cocktail of skin goodness.
The Plant Collage Collection includes:
- Day Serum – A daily dose of collagen to promote longevity and vibrancy through the absorption of plant cells.
- Night Serum – A nighttime treatment to Improve elasticity and reduce wrinkles while you sleep.
- Neck & Chest Serum – A targeted treatment to fight aging and the effects of gravity.
- Body Mist – A light, all-over body spray to improve the texture and firmness of your skin.
So how does they work…
First, know that I’m a huge fan of serums. Sure, I like a good moisturizing cream but I loooove a really good serum. Generally, serums are developed with small concentrated molecules and because of that, your skin can absorb the targeted ingredients more deeply, instead of being locked out by the additives in creams (read more on WebMD).
This holds true for the formulation of Adonia Organics serums. Developed with molecular-sized plant collagen cells, the serums easily penetrate the skin and are absorbed quickly.
The texture of the serum is a little like a salad smoothie. The milky light greenish liquid has a subtle aroma of cucumber. It goes on smoothly and my parched Arizona skin drinks it in almost instantly. Skin feels slightly dewey to the touch and ready for your daytime sunscreen or nighttime moisturizer.
After a few weeks of use, I’m happy to report a visible improvement in my skin tone and texture. It also feels good to get my daily dose of veggies in bottle form. If you’re not sure where to start, I’d recommend the Night Serum. You’ll love waking up to nourished, smooth skin.
